When you pitch your tent at Draco Nature Camp, you are instantly surrounded by the soothing sounds of parallel running streams and the deep peace of the Chenderiang forest. But did you know that our campsite is also the perfect launchpad to explore some of Perak’s most spectacular natural wonders and cultural gems?

If you are planning a multi-day camping trip and want to explore the surrounding area, here are the absolute best things to see, do, and experience just a short drive from camp!

1. Marvel at Lata Kinjang Waterfall (Taman Eko-Rimba)

  • Distance from Camp: ~15–20 minutes drive

  • Why visit: You can actually spot this massive, multi-tiered waterfall cascading down the mountain side right from the North-South Expressway. Up close at the Eco-Rimba park, it is breathtaking. Cross the suspension bridge, relax on the observation decks, and enjoy the misty spray of one of Malaysia's tallest waterfalls. It’s a must-visit spot for families and photography enthusiasts.

2. Take a Relaxing Stroll at Temoh Lake Park

  • Distance from Camp: ~20 minutes drive

  • Why visit: If you want a change of pace from rugged forest trekking, head over to Temoh Lake Park. Built around a serene, former tin-mining site, this 13-acre public park features a beautiful 2.4km paved walking and cycling trail. It is highly recommended for an easy morning jog or a peaceful evening walk to catch a stunning sunset over the water.

3. Explore the Depths of Gua Tempurung

  • Distance from Camp: ~35 minutes drive (towards Gopeng/Kampar)

  • Why visit: For the true adventure seeker, Gua Tempurung is one of the largest and most majestic limestone caves in Peninsular Malaysia. They offer everything from easy, well-lit walkway tours to heart-pounding, wet-river caving packages where you’ll crawl through underground rivers and squeeze through stone chambers.

4. Discover the Heritage of Kampar Town

  • Distance from Camp: ~25 minutes drive

  • Why visit: Hungry after a long night of camping? Head into neighboring Kampar town for a food and culture fix. Known for its rich tin-mining history, you can visit the Kinta Tin Mining Museum to learn about the industry that shaped Perak. Afterward, treat yourself to local culinary icons like Kampar’s famous Claypot Chicken Rice or the legendary Curry Chicken Bun (Roti Ayam).

5. Go Cafe Hopping or Street Art Hunting in Tapah

  • Distance from Camp: ~20 minutes drive

  • Why visit: Tapah is full of hidden charm. Spend an afternoon wandering behind the main streets to find the vibrant Tapah Street Arts Murals, showcasing creative local artwork perfect for your Instagram feed. The town is also seeing a rise in cozy, aesthetic spots like 1108 Kustom Cafe where you can grab a premium brew before heading back into the wild.
